The flag-off ceremony was led by the State Commissioner of Health, Hon. Musa Adamu Funtua, at the premises of the Katsina State Drugs and Medical Supplies Agency (DMSA). In his address, the Commissioner reiterated Governor Dikko Radda’s commitment to improving the health and wellbeing of the less privileged in the state. He emphasized that the government has made significant efforts to enhance the quality of healthcare delivery across Katsina state. Hon. Musa Adamu Funtua urged all beneficiary hospitals to ensure proper management of the distributed commodities to achieve the intended impact.

Additionally, he praised the leadership of DMSA Executive Secretary Pharm. Fatima Shua’ibu for her coordination and commitment to maintaining a seamless and orderly supply chain throughout the state’s medical facilities.

Pharm. Fatima Shua’ibu, who spoke at the Flagg-Off ceremony, said that the government had supplied the money needed to buy vital medications, which would then be given to the hospitals at no cost I.e Free of Charge.
According to her, the program provides coverage for a variety of necessary medical supplies, such as anti-malarial medications, prenatal care (ANC) supplies, delivery and cesarean section (CS) packs, and dialysis assistance.

The program also offers free medical care to pregnant women, children under five, and those injured in auto accidents.

The distribution’s first phase started with four medical facilities which are General Hospital Katsina, General Hospital Musawa, and Turai Yar’Adua Maternity and Children Hospitals, and will be subsequently distributed across all secondary health facilities in the state.
